Tigers superior to lions. Prove me wrong!?

Some cat experts say the lion will win, but most say tiger. Here are the facts: tigers work alone, lions work in groups (prides). Tigers are bigger, lions have more fighting experience. Tigers are stalkers, lions are a group-based hunting unit.

THEREFORE, tigers know WHERE to strike, and can strike it with extreme force, whereas a lion would be using all of its energy swatting away uselessly at the tigers skull. Meanwhile the tiger would be slicing its way through vital organs, effectively killing it like it has done with prey all its life.

DO NOT say something stupid like lions are not called the king of the jungle for nothing. DO NOT bring in other animals.

Tigers superior to lions. Prove me wrong!?
Your argument is sound.
Reply:It is the Tiger I did some research and I found.....

Tigers:

Bite Force: 1,200 lb per square inch

Weight: 398-593 lbs

Lions:

Bite Force:691 lbs per square inch

Weight:416 (male) 277lbs (female)
Reply:only in detroit
Reply:the main reason the tiger would win is because of

it's size.. the mail tiger outways the lion by at least

200lbs. that would be like a a 132lb man fighting

a 200lb man..think about it......i still believe on any

given day either could win...........

as far as fighting experience, tigers fight each other

all the time.
Reply:More importantly, Sergeants have more stripes than Corporals and tigers have more stripes than lions.
Reply:lions are called kings of the jungle because of there appearance,it has nothing to do with their fighting ability, having said that the male lion has evolved as a fighter, while the female as the primary hunter in the pride, having said that the male lion is instrumental in bringing down big game, plenty of video graphic evidence supports this, now to this ridiculous questions, indo chinese and bengal tiger are roughly the same size as lions its only amur tiger that are always larger then lions.as far as mussce mass is cocerned, lions have the most powerful fore quarters of all cats(forearms chest and neck) not to mention the largest skull(ie it will tear ur stripy *** to bits)the lions mane is also a big factor as it does offer alot of protecton from head shots, part of its evolution as a fighter, tigers are by far superior hunters but not fighters, the male lion is an exeptionally intelligent killer, very evident from lions in the okavango delta takin down full grown african bull elephants, much larger then anythin in asia, lions also display exeptional bravery when protecting the pride, national geographic showed one lion charging forty spoted hyenas, the lion died after maulin 30 of them to death, these are 200 pound animals with the deadliest jaws on land by the way not mangy dholes,i hope i have put an end to this stupid question, and ps all accurate data concerning these fights says lions win all the time, koreans were renowned for these acts of gross cruelty and found that tigers were found wanting, then they drugged lions and made old ones fight resulting in tiger wins, pleasing their audiences, mel and fiona sunquist the so called big cat experts wrote a book they wanted to sell in asia, hence the reason they big up the tiger, and again 99% credible big cat experts say the lion is unbeatable in a fair fight....eg david attenbrough and many others.

i have no time for the ridiculous videos on you tube if you want to see lions fighting supremacy go to africa, simple as that, and the only reason lions dont exist in asia anymore is because they turn into savage man eaters easier then tigers, coupled with asias population density it lead to them being hunted out,and the romans because of their history with carthage doctored fight results to favour tiger so as to make themselves look great, lions represented carthage, there is one writter who says no animal inspired fear into the roman mob at the colloseum like the mighty beasts from africa who seemingly feared nothin and would charge anything when confronted.........thats all i have to say,i love all cats but make no mistake i would rather face a tiger then a lion in fight any day.

please also remember tigers rarely fight, only a fool would suggest they do,lions fight all the time to protect the pride from other males, the average weight of male lions is 440 pounds but they can be up to 600 pounds even, tigers outweigh lions but only slightly exept for the amur, people caliming they have done research clearly have a different understanding of the word, you tube is not RESEARCh!!!!!!

lions have a bite force that matches and surpasses a tigers,i am insulted by the level of ignorant answers here.
Reply:i seen a documentary on nat geo wild where a single male lion chased away a tiger . i think this puts a big hole in your theory .
Reply:You have a compelling argument... In the feline family, all big cats go for the fatal kill the same way. If a tiger would attack a full grown Lion, the tiger would have trouble getting it's jaws around the lions throat because of the mane. So, i think a tiger could win out of brut force over the lion even though lion has more experence. I'm all for the Tiger.
Reply:Frankly it's impossible to predict which big cat will win in a particular scenario. Both are equally placed in a speculative fight. Tiger may be bigger and more muscular, but lion has a thick protective mane and a greater fighting experience.

Actually those who spent their lives hunting and living with both these great cats historically don't take any sides usually - they maintain that they have seen too many fights go one way or the other to predict who will in one particular fight.

These are both great animals and need to be protected and preserved. The Discovery channel though once did an animated fight between these two great cats and according to them the lion won.
Reply:This is actually a multi-faceted question. A Lion, one on one, with a Tiger would lose. they are both cats, and have the same arsenal of weapons, but the tiger is larger and there is the advantage.

In a species survival scenario, then the lion wins. Tigers are mostly solitary animals while lions live in Prides, in which all members serve a purpose. Basically, the females do all the hunting and the males live the good life. I don't mean to down play the difference, but the lion is much more able to survive in a drought situation than the tiger would be. Although, both would have hardships, the lions ability to live in kind of family unit would do much better than the tiger.
Reply:Tigers do not slice at vital organs, they kill by breaking the neck.

Lions kill by choking their victim.

Typically, tigers will prey on animals smaller than they are, lions on animals bigger than they are (which is logical: tigers are solitary, they don't need to kill bigger than they can eat) while lions will kill for the whole pride.

Tiger's mean of killing is limited by the size of the animal; too big an animal would have too strong a neck for them to kill effectively, while choking works on any animal.

A lion would most likely win.

I don't care what you think, you are evidently not an expert.
Reply:i dont know and it is almost useless to predict such things....but suppose tigers and lions have to compete 4r resources...then i think tiger will win coz they are more adaptable than lions ...they are found in dry places (not too dry), ice, mangrove forests. hilly areas and thus have a better survival tactics
Reply:1. Did you add in the lion's mane to your calculation. The lion's mane is an advantage because it protects the lions neck and the blood vessels inside the neck.

2. The tiger is bigger, but not enough to make a difference. They are basically the same size.

3. You said yourself that lions have more fighting experience,

so they can figure out where vital organs are and hit them just as well as tigers can.

End result: Tigers and Lions are both equally effective at attacking. The tiger attempts to attack the vital organs, but the lion tries to block it. The lion attempts a counter-attack. The tiger tries to block. Speed also equal. They're both big cats with all the agility of the cat.

Turns to the lion's favor: they have a mane that protect their neck. It may not seem much, but piercing the neck would stop blood flow to the brain. It could also suffocate them. The lion can pierce the tiger's neck, but the tiger can't pierce the lion's neck.

It's still hard to say which, but I think it's the lion who'll win.
