i want a panda especially a red one or a big cat lions, tigers, etc. i love any kind of monkeys any exotic or rare birds too
Where can i get exotic animals and can i have a range of costs?
Good luck.
Reply:Wow, you're being serious aren't you :(
Thats a shame.
Reply:Heaven help us...and all the exotic "pets" out there in your path. Just because you can purchase an animal and throw a collar or halter on it doesn't mean it's a "pet". Find another way to be the coolest kid on the block that DOESN'T involve an innocent animal being "taken care of" by someone that is not professionally trained who lacks the proper facilities and equipment to handle the animal.
To answer your question, red pandas are not legal to purchase for several reasons, one of them being that they'd rip you to shreds. But I'm sure you knew that. Good luck with that okapi, now!
EDIT: Sarah - I agree with you, but this is exactly the type of person who doesn't give a s--- about the illegal "pet" trade, so long as they get a supercool "pet" to call their own and make everyone jealous...
Reply:Ok Paris Hilton...first of all. How about looking into the legality of the specific animal that you are looking to own. "Cost" is a broad term, and there is the cost to buy the animal, transport the animal to where you live, and the daily cost of keeping it. That means feeding it, cleaning up after it, making sure it has adequate shelter and habitat. Since you don't know that red pandas are not really pandas per se...I'd suggest that you go to the zoo and enjoy the animals. OR look into maybe doing a zoo volunteer worker program that would maybe allow you some other more personal interaction with the animals. Seriously, just let them be because it is people like you that foster the illegal animal trade, encourage poaching, and ultimately take animals from their homes and don't have the resources to maintain them properly.
If you are looking into an exotic "looking" pet how about a bengal cat. It is a normal house cat that looks like a mini-tiger. Or an ocicat - it also is a normal house cat that looks JUST LIKE A MINI LEOPARD. Fennec foxes are super cute too.
Reply:I dont understand why people want to do crazy things like this.
wild animals are wild and guess what, they belong in the wild!
Leave them where they belong, doing anything otherwise is just being cruel to them. And it will normally end up 'biting' you back.
Reply:you can go online yellow pages go to some zoo's some of them are up 4 sale

Help please! Visual Basic 6.0?
Lions, Tigers, and Bears pet clinic is impressed with your previous work for them and have hired you for another small project. The vet assistants would like an application that displays basic services. The application should be designed with check boxes to select the various such as office calls, vaccinations grooming, hospitalization, heartworm preventative....etc. After all the selections have been made,t he charges should be added together to arrive at a total amt. due and siplayed when a CommandButton control is clicked. if the patient's owner thinks the total is too high, a way to clear the CheckBox controls, the corresponding service chargest, and the total amt. to begin selecting again should be avail.
This is what I have so far:
Command1.Caption = (Val(Check1.Value) + Val(Check2.Value))
If Check1.Value = 1 Then lblAmtdue.Caption = 50
If Check2.Value = 1 Then lblAmtdue.Caption = 100
......etc.
lblAmtdue.Caption = ""
What code should I use? Please help!!!
Help please! Visual Basic 6.0?
Command1.Caption is the text on the button named Command1, not values from the program. It should tell the user what happens when s/he clicks it - like Add, Enter, Quit.
If Check1 is a check box, the value is either vbChecked or vbUnchecked, not the value in some other control.
You should use VB's constants wherever possible:
If Check1.Value = vbChecked Then
Add the values up - If Check1 is checked, it's 50, if Check2 is checked it's 100, but if both are checked it should be 150, right? With your code it will be 100.
Then, after you get all the values, you wipe them out with
lblAmtdue.Caption = ""

I want to live in the jungle/forest, for real, please help?
and if i can, is there a certain jungle that i can go to where there are no lions/tigers/bears
i'm really serious about this...
i was looking at my picture of a waterfall, and wondered "hmm, that would be awesome to live there and be free, and swing across vines and whatnot."
i really think it would be fun..
so are there any domesticated jungles safe for humans?
I want to live in the jungle/forest, for real, please help?
Domesticated Jungle is an oxymoron. Unless you live in the zoo.
Reply:hey there..i thought i was the only one thinking in live in the jungle..but i´m not!
honestly,i think there should exist forests for "human living",and to learn BIG things..
i dont really know if such thing exists..therefore i cant help you..in the other hand it is good to know people like you think in that issue..P.S:any notice/information post me ok,i´ll keep in touch
Reply:Hawaii has rain forest and no large dangerous carnivores.. at worst you might run into a wild boar (non-native to the island).
Reply:Jungles are dangerous but not because of lions and tigers and bears (oh my!). The dangers come mostly from parasites. The safest thing you can do to live in a "domesticated jungle" is to add a big greenhouse to your house. Include a waterfall. Stock the greenhouse with plants from tropical rain forests. Then, invite me over for a visit.
Reply:As far as jungles go, big lions and tigers probably wouldn't be your primary concern. The tiny mosquito carries tropical diseases such as malaria and dengue. Kind of funny that a major threat would be from something so small.

The Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, and Pistons won't cut it, Mr. Bush.
Detroit need jobs, and lots of 'em. The big three just announced

If there was a world wide flood, how did life continue?
Think about it, it supposedly rained for forty days and forty nights. The world was underwater for about a year. Even if there was an arc that could hold all of the animals that needed to be held plus a years worth of rations and partitions to keep carnivores from killing other animals. the flood would've killed all non-aquatic plant life. In short there would be nothing for the herbivores to eat. Also as there are some animals that are carnivores (lions, tigers, bears etc) they would need to kill other animals to survive. As there were only two of each animal (14 of each animal used in sacrifice) and as carnivores would need to eat daily they would wipe out many herbivores and eventually each other. How did plant life survive? how did the animals not kill each other in the time immediately after the flood?
Please, no jargon about how I am an evil atheist and no attacks on science or evolution as I didn't mention science or evolution.
Please stay on topic people.
If there was a world wide flood, how did life continue?
If such a worldwide flood really happened, it would result in a mass extinction. Very few organisms would survive. Just the fact that the planets is now teeming with life is proof against such a flood.
Reply:The fish would have died with changing levels of salt in both fresh waters and then flooded oceans.
Plant life would have died in a year of being submerged under semi salty water.
Many animals don't breed in pairs or have a hive mentality.
So much humidity would have caused many mammals to drown just breathing the air.
I could fill a page if I could remember all of the fallacies concerning the ark that have been brought up here.
Reply:Other problems with this story-aquatic animals are usually freshwater or saltwater; a world wide flood would mix the two water types and most aquatic life would have been killed.
Of course the determined Bible thumper can still say something along the lines of 'God can do anything'. Sigh. There's just no reasoning with fantasy.
Reply:since noah found land I assume the flood receeded enough to start again.

I got a question about Cats.....?
if lions tigers pumas cheetahs and house cats are all related, then how come the wild cats are so big and the hosue cat so small? how did it become so small??
I got a question about Cats.....?
The evolution of cats began millions of years ago. 50 million
years ago carnivores called the Miacis, a weasel like animal,
is the ancestor of cats as well as other families such as dogs,
bears, raccoons, civets, and hyenas. From Miacis the
African Wild Cat evolved.
The early form of a cat dates back to 40 million years. This
creature was known as a Dinictis and was about the size
of a Lynx.
The first true cats were found at the beginning of the Pliocene Period,
which was about 12 million years ago. The evolutionary processes
led to three main types of cats
found at: http://petcaretips.net/cat_history.html
Reply:There are different breads of wild cats some of them quite small. while other cats where just bread to be smaller. Most house cats come from smaller versions of wild cats.
Reply:Like most animals they grow to whatever sizre they need to fit an environment. By that I mean what the food availablity is and how they get it.
An African lion attacks big game, gazelles, water buffalo etc. If it were house cat sized it would not get too far, just as an African Lion would not do so well catching mice and small birds.
The North American Mountain lion usually goes after deer. most deer are in the 100 to 200 pound range and that happens to be the about the size a mountain lion can handle. If over a long period of time deer grew in size to be four hundred pounds the descendants of succesful mountain lions would probably grow to a size to be able to catch them, like the now extinct Sabre tooth cats. Or adapt hunting techniques like pack hunting that African lions use.
They adapt to their environment. (Evolution works)
If house cats had to fend for themselves and only had access to larger game they would eventually get larger or adapt different techniques or attributes to help catch the larger game.
Reply:a bob cat is also small too..
just like people we all come in differences..
they adapt to their surroundings....
Reply:breeding...some kind of cat that starts with a C...cervel?
Reply:The same reason that a finch is really small, but there are other birds that are huge like the albatross, or a hawk...
The domesticated cat is just a different type of the species.
Reply:ACTUALLY, Cat's are DESCENDED from Wolves. And if you don't believe me, look it up. The cat's ancestors; Wolves. (trust me)
Reply:Yeah; rats and mice are similar %26amp; their sizes are quite different, too.

Reply:Because God made them that way.....DUH.(Thinking)"Stupid head"
Reply:um cuz they're dumb
Reply:same reason as having a shaq o'neill and a vern troyer. genetics.

Question about animal cruelty?
How come when rich people want to kill animals it's called sport, we have sport fishing, dear hunting, bird hunting but when poor people do it with Rooster fighting or dog fighting it's called animal cruelty and is a federal crime? Rich people can mount the heads of lions tigers and bears in their luxury cabins while people involved in dog fighting have to hide all evidence of their activity. We even see dear hunting on Tv sometimes with these guys in their fake army gear blowing the brains out of defenseless animals. Seems like a double standard.
Question about animal cruelty?
This may not be a popular response, but many of the references you make ,come down to law, and geography. Deer hunting, while not my idea of sport, serves a two fold purpose, it can be considered sport, this is true, but also serves as an alternative supply, that is arguably more nutritious than beef. Another big distinction between dog fighting being a crime, which it should be, and safari hunting for big game is geography. Most countries that offer safari hunting are truly poor, and rely on the income from tourist hunters, who not only pay for lodging, but also pay considerable fees for hunting. In most cases the meat from the animals is donated to villages, where food supplies are very scarce, and the food ... welcome. So , you are correct about rich and poor ,to an extent. To me, there is a vast difference between hunting deer to feed your family, and also a means of controlling the population of deer, which are a major cause of accidents every year, and a millionaire and his associates who promote dog fighting events, purely for entertainment. The idea of going on safari, for me personally, is repugnant, but until our government takes a more proactive role in helping other countries ,instead of destroying them, there will be those who take advantage of the poverty of others, simply to have a trophy on their office wall, and in addition, if we are not careful, the needless extinction mof rare species. You raise an excellent question!
Reply:many of them do it ILLEGALLY.
Reply:Deer....not dear,dear.

Reply:Who's to say that this is really the case?? Poor people shoot deer out of season often. And what's to say that rich people are not horders? I think it isn't the money situation the person is in that causes problems. I think it is more like a personality problem.
Reply:I agree that catch and release fishing and trophy hunting is also cruelty to animals. However hunting for food is different than forcing animals to fight each other for your entertainment. None of the above should ever be considered a 'sport'.
Reply:It seems like the difference can be broken down into possible benefits from each "sport" if you will.
Theoretically, any animal that's killed could be eaten, or would have been the initial purpose, and even though trophy hunting sucks, there is a possible benefit.
On the other hand, breeding dogs to fight has a couple drawbacks. For one, your dog gets bitten and bruised up all the time, and probably requires medical attention that you can't provide. The other thing would be that you end up with a pretty aggressive dog, and it's just not convenient to have a dog that's set to destroy.

Reply:Well people who are against animal cruelty like myself do not approve on either. Animal hunting as a sport is cruel because why should anyone get pleasure from something dying? Also animal fighting against animal is also wrong, I mean humans are bad enough fighting, the animals are innocent. It really isn't a rich or poor thing, cops still would get after the "sports".

I have a question about working in a vets office?
Ok, im 15, but if i wanted to know if its possible to get a job at a vets office? I get my license in a couple months, and a vet lives really close by me around the corner, but i was wondering if they hired regular people? not just vets. Im really good with animals, exotic%26amp;domestic, I have been raised with them, and taken care of every kind of animal that you can think of like, elephants, lions, tigers, bears, dogs, cats, birds, snakes, monkeys, lemars, squirrels, kangaroos, ect ect ect ect., the list goes on forever... . My familey works in the circus, but right now im home going to school, bc my mom always wants us 2 have an option of staying home,or going on the road. So i was just wondering. I cant explain to you guys on how much i know about animals. Adults call me all the time and ask for my advice, and help. Also every few weeks I go work for my godmother who owns circuses and zoos. And she makes me work with the exotics bc i know so much. And i really want to work for a vet!
I have a question about working in a vets office?
Yes, they hire non-vets as veterinary assistants and kennel attendents. You can submit your resume and see if they will hire you. If they do not offer you a paying job, you could possibly volunteer to gain experience to later get a paying job in a pet hospital. You would start out maybe cleaning cages, feeding/walking animals, holding animals while vet treats them, etc.
Reply:You could do an internship-- in many places experience counts for much more than an associates degree. But, if it's regular vet, get ready for a chop shop of spays and neuters, crunchy cat de-claws (worst sound ever!), and some nasty tooth yanking. I'd find someone who does a wider variety of animal exams for a fuller, more positive experience.
Reply:my uncle is a vet and my aunt works for him and you have to be a veterinarian assistant before you can work there. i wanted to get a job there last year but i couldnt so all im allowed to do is cut his grass.
Reply:I don't see why you couldn't be a clerk. It may not be as interesting as being a real vet but it would be a step closer. Several of my friends have helped out at vet's offices for service hours. They did lots of odd jobs, mainly cleaning and working with the kennel dogs. They also were allowed to feed their injured wild animals that people bring in. As time goes by you get trusted with more jobs. Most likely you would start by cleaning floors and walking dogs. It is an uninteresting start but definitely a plausible start that is very possible for a person of your age.
Reply:In most states you have to be a licensed "veterinary assistant" but you could still officially be a clerk or kennel cleaner, but you can't handout advice to paying clients no matter how much you know, until you have that license. But then I'm not licensed to handout legal advice :P And we might better save animals, than lawyers, any day of the week :))

Why do people want this or that?
Why do people want wild animals as pets? Like lions, tigers, and snake that are too dangerous to keep as pets.
Why do people want this or that?
basically I think it is to fill some messed up need in them to be cool or to be different.
I think you can tell alot about a person who feels a need to keep a wild animal - look at Sigfred and Roy for example.

Do dogs understand language just as good as we do?
I was wondering this. I mean can dogs understand what each other is saying? Is it the same with other animals as well? Like with cats, lions, tigers...? What about the animals that seemingly don't have a sound like fish and other animals that live under the sea?
Someone please answer. :D
Do dogs understand language just as good as we do?
ok theres 2 things:
talking (humans)
communication (all animals)
animals dont say things like "isnt the weather great!" etc they communicate. i.e having vocalisations for things like "danger! go away! hello!" etc and so does every other animal. humans have made their communication skills much more complex and it has turned into talking. and yes they can understand what other animals of their kind r saying. and so can we humans.
as you may know dolphins use echolocation to communicate and find their way around underwater. fish.. im not sure.. they dont really need to communicate as much as other animals..
Reply:actully ya dogs do understand a language just like we know english
Reply:I think they do bcos we humans used to be monkeys and din't know how to talk. However in the case of dogs, i think they are direct oppostie of us. So maybe since they knew before, thet should understand us, only the fact if they would be willing to listen.
Reply:I once had a teacher that said humans were above (other) animals because they couldn't communicate as well with each other as humans could with other humans.
Of course, being the smart a*s that I was in school I asked if the teacher if she could speak french. When she replied that she couldn't, I asked if the French were smarter than her because they could understand each other but she couldn't understand them.
I didn't do very well in that class but, my point is that, just because we can't understand dogs, cats, lions and tigers doesn't mean that can't communicate with each other. In addition, it is possible that dogs, cats, lions and tigers understand some dogs, cats, lions and tigers more than than others. After all, if humans speak different languages, isn't it possible that a dog from Idaho might speak a different language than a dog from Tibet?
Finally, verbal communication is only a small part of the total communication process. To fully understand this, watch a Mime perform. They can get across entire concepts and stories without making a sound.
Reply:No, absolutely not. When a dog is trained to sit, it does so by association. Most of us when we train a dog we say "Spot sit", and we push the dogs butt down on the floor. After doing that about 100 times the dog finally gets it, when human say sit, dog put fanny on floor. The thing is you don't need to use the word sit, you could use any word. If you wanted to you could train your dog to sit on the command George.
No, dogs do not understand what other dogs are saying when they bark. There has to be other clues. Body movement, scratching, tail biting, licking, or scent.

My wife and i have been invited to a party saturday nite.?
this is a high society party DR'S and L awyers and such. (lions , tigers and bears o my) im just a long haul truckdriver. what in the world will i talk about that want make me be the entertainment. my wife is a RN and can move around in this crowd. HELP ME!!!
My wife and i have been invited to a party saturday nite.?
I am assuming this is for your wife for some reason since she is a nurse and has to keep relationships with doctors. When she asks you to do stuff like this she probably understands it is a hard thing for you to do.
Tell her how overwhelmed you are. But don't use that as an excuse to beg out of the event, just tell her so that she can help you through it.
She can probably help you decide what to wear.
At the function, she will likely introduce you to people and tell you who the movers and shakers are, maybe some little tidbits that make the other people a little more human to you and break the ice for easier conversation. So remember a few things for confidence.
YOUR SELF ESTEEM must be intact. You aren't any less of a person than these people, even if you are "JUST???" a truckdriver. If you have trouble in these kinds of situations, the problem is yours as much as anyone else...no one can MAKE you feel comfortable in any social situation. If you go into the situation thinking that you don't deserve to be there, that is what you will project to other guests, and that is how they will treat you. Truth is, lots of upscale professionals are perfectly wonderful people and don't think better of themselves than others, and they bend over backwards for people who are uncomfortable around them. Plus if you go in there feeling less than them, or like you have something to prove, or feel like you are performing under a microscope, then you will just bumble all over yourself and then they will have reason to wonder whether you should be there.
Doctors and lawyers and other corporate professionals work hard too and that gives you something in common, even if you have different color "collars". There is a fundamental similarity between people who have to work to support their families and EVERYONE feels the pressure of economics and cost of living. Plus not too many people are born with the old silver spoon and go directly to law school without their share of hard physical work. And if you think there is any difference between you and them based on profession? Well, think of this. Many lawyers often spend a lot of time sweating (in court), and dealing with people that YOU probably wouldn't want to hang around with. And doctors very much use their hands to get the job done. A surgeon spends his days up to his elbows in blood and guts. You on the other hand, have a lot of pressure on you in YOUR job, just like they do. Driving safely, dealing with the public, protecting your load, missing your family, all to make sure that products get moved so they can stay supplied with things in THEIR HOUSES. And you have long weird hours in common, too. Many professionals are on call, and get ripped away from their families on a regular basis, have to make time at home COUNT. So these people are NOT too good for you, and most people from all social circles KNOW this, that everyone has their job to do.
No one is JUST their job. I bet someone in that room likes some of the same restaurants, foods, hobbies, bands, or sports, that you do. And if you have children, you can talk about your trials and tribulations with that, their activities, and also brag about your kids...believe me, children humble everyone and we all like to small talk about the kiddos. Being a trucker, you do your fair share of travelling even if you don't always get to stop and smell the roses or climb the mountains. If you find out that a family is going on a road trip, you might be able to suggest the best places to stop on the way, truckstops, rest areas, etc. and you can talk about the wonderful scenery you get to see from the highway. You can also exchange funny travel stories.
If you aren't in the loop with current events, local and beyond, get yourself familiar with what's going on before the party. We are all affected by what is going on in town. Is there a new restaurant coming to your town? A new highway going in? A local ordinance being passed? You can use these things as conversation starters without stirring up anyone's temper...and if a hot topic comes up (what do you think about gay marriage, the war, the president), don't inflame it, just say something neutral..."Gee, I was hoping to get away from that topic tonight, we have been talking about it a lot at home." and change the subject. There is always a hothead in every crowd that tries to push their agenda wherever they go or put you on the spot to make you feel inferior, or start an argument...don't allow it to ruin your night.
Just remember: Put your best foot forward, be kind, and relax. Rely on your wife, who knows these people, for support. And if someone tries to make you feel less than...it's their problem, not yours. Walk away with your head high and talk to someone else.
If all else fails, make the night short, or stick with your wife. You can make her the focus of your feelings that evening. How glad you are to support her, important this is for her, how pretty she looks, and how proud you are of HER career.
Manners are everyone's job! It is your job to support your wife by going to this party and carrying yourself with confidence and pride. It is HER job and other guests' to make sure you feel welcome there. Not everyone always remembers this but if you keep it in mind, and do your part, then you will have grown from this experience.
Reply:dress like you were going out on a boat and run around grabbing all the other wives butts i dont think you will have to stay very long
Reply:I think best is take a drink and keep smiling to everybody and only give the answers of asked questions and don't loose your confident, only they are in different profession.
Reply:Doctors and lawyers are real people, dont' worry. If all else fails, talk about the weather, sports, the last movie you saw, your kids, etc. And if you're a long haul truckdriver, I'm sure you've seen a lot of the country and might have some interesting tidbits, no? Hope this helps!
The person after me said the war and religion. NO!! Number one rule of socializing, stay away from religion and politics. You don't want to start a debate.
Wear whatever you're comfortable in, as long as it's appropriate.
Reply:hmmm feel for u - nothing worse than pretentious snobs -
OK off top of head - but u'll have to research these topics
1. Weather - hurricane season how its been pretty mild (no one will get offended by weather talk)
2. Health -, general health topics that concern society - i.e. smoking, (make sure no smokers, if u going to launch into tirade, keep it civil and a bit bland), keeping fit etc
3. Ask them questions like what do they think about current crime levels and do they agree with such and such in politics, let them rant on for a bit - but be prepared for the inevitable - and whats your view on the matter? (research research!) .
4. What you and your wife are doing this vacation or how much of the country you get to see being a driver.
Reply:Do what I do. I have a fear of these kinds of situations, too. Hang out with your wife as you enter the room. Go with her to find the people she wants to talk to. Women are better at this than men. While you're walking over to that group, make sure you get a drink. Make sure it's not beer or alcohol. Whatever it is, order it with a lime. It'll look like you're drinking. With your drink in-hand, head over to your wife's group. Just before you get there, excuse yourself to use the bathroom. She'll think it's weird timing, but too bad. Then take your drink and head for the corner of the room where you'll see somebody hanging out by themself. There's always somebody doing that. These days, they're usually talking on a cell phone or looking at a gadget. Ask that person for the time. Then mention something about the weather or some other small talk. Introduce yourself, get the person's name and head back to your wife's group. When you get there, let her introduce you, then mention the fact that you were just talking to so-and-so. This will help break the ice, and it'll help everyone feel like you belong at the party. The important thing is say something to somebody before you get introduced to anybody. That way, you'll have already said something to somebody without having to overthink what you'll say. It's kind of like swimming, Sometimes it's better to jump in all at once instead of dipping your foot in and worrying about how cold it is. These social situations are tough, but when you make a move first, it make things a lot easier.
Reply:This is what I like to do, just be vague, sidetrack questions, and answer phone calls speaking in other languages. It will trip them out, if you can learn some arabic that would be best.
Id wear a suit and tie, everyone else will be.
IF YOU DONT TAKE MY ADVICE, AT LEAST TAKE THIS%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

Reply:I would dress nicely; long pants, button down shirt, and dockers.
I would agree with most people on here to ask the partiers about themselves, what they do, how do they like their jobs, stuff like that. Weather and chit chat is nice to begin a conversation, but it doesn't showcase who you are and what you bring to the table. I would exude confidence, obstain from using crass language, and use nice manners (like complimenting your wife when she's not in earshot.) These things go farther in life than what your job is. And if they ask what you do, just be honest and say what you do and have a few stories to tell about life on the road. You never know, they may envy you.

I do not advocate getting a full drunk on - if you do drink, a little something to take the edge off your fear might help, but anything more than that and you risk genuinely unacceptable behaviour.
Since when are you expected to be *the* entertainment for this little soiree? Bear in mind that several of these people will probably be *dying* to talk about things other than their lines of work - if you don't feel like talking about yourself much, try asking them "So what do you do for fun?" My wife and i have been invited to a party saturday nite.?
IF YOU DONT TAKE MY ADVICE, AT LEAST TAKE THIS%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;
WEAR A SUIT AND TIE, SHOWING UP IN COWBOY BOOTS WILL MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH AT YOU
Reply:I would dress nicely; long pants, button down shirt, and dockers.

Do you think humans have characteristics of all animal species?
Or just some?
for example we definitely have some of the same characteristics as apes and monkeys, but do you think we are anything like lions, tigers or dogs?
What about squirrels or lizards?

Paradox,
A spider spins a web based upon a specific biological function. Outside of Peter Parker the rest of us do not have that innate function. To say that this is identical with a tool human create from something outside of ourselves is not an accurate comparison.
Speaking technically, there is not a unified predicate. An accidental similarity of subject is not enough.
The syllogism stands.
Reply:You should look at an evolution chart. The similarities will be found there. Also, there has been a lot of evidence lately that many mammals have the capacity for empathy, or for recognizing that other animals and humans have minds (the ability lacking in autistics), and so on. Honestly, I suspect it all comes down to brain size and structure, and were it not for those differences, we'd all be pretty much the same.

Do all members of the cat family purr.............?
Like lions %26amp; tigers, etc.
Do all members of the cat family purr.............?
All members except those of the genus Panthera which includes the big cats lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars.
To purr you have to be able to do it while breathing out and and in. The big cats can not do that.
But other cats like mountain lions, cheetah and ocelots can purr.

I can make the noise myself but it kinda hard to describe what it sounds like. Hmmm... I guess if you kinda... well no.... just ask a keeper to make the noise for you the next time you are at a zoo. It kinda sounds like purring but not really.
Reply:I believe so
Reply:No, purring occurrs only in the smaller cat species. The small cats have a solid hyoid bone and can purr. The roaring cats have a flexible hyoid bone which allows them to roar but does not permit them to purr. The determination of whether the cat is a small cat or big cat is made depending on whether or not the cat has a flexible hyoid bone.

Reply:"The ability to roar comes from an elongated and specially adapted larynx and hyoid apparatus. When air passes through the larynx on the way to the lungs, the cartilage walls of the larynx vibrate, producing sound. The lion's larynx is longest, giving it the most robust roar. Though jaguars are considered great cats, they are not often known to roar and have a less developed larynx. The snow leopard is also said to have a larynx nearly adapted for roaring, but it is far less developed than the jaguar. Cats that cannot roar have vocal chords more suited for purring, while roaring cats cannot purr."
So, as you can see, roaring cats such as lions and tigers cannot purr.
Reply:No, the big cats do not purr, presumably because they are not content with being called "Big". It can be quite offesive to some. Cheetahs are not counted amongst the big cats on the basis that it can purr.

What legal pets can kill a pitbull...other than another pitbull?
2 times last year these ghetto *** people where i live let their dogs get out, both times the city took the dogs and last time i actually went to court and they got a serious fine and all but...
they say "oh they can be trained" and "only bad owners have bad dogs " and bla bla bla but the honest truth is that when a person or another animal screams and runs away the dogs are really not trained for that situation no matter what these idiots say.
besides i have yet to see 1 pitbull with a "good" owner.
so... what i need is something that i can unleash on the dog next time i see one of them running up and down my street.
maybe even just let it jump in the yard of the dog that got out 3 days ago.
i could always get rid of the dogs other ways, but calling the animal control is getting kinda lame, and i dont want to get myself in trouble like i would if the dog ever hurt someone in my family...
lions tigers and bears... lol maybe a monkey i dunno what about german sheperds
What legal pets can kill a pitbull...other than another pitbull?
There is nothing legal that could kill a pit bull, the best you would get would be a messy fight with another big dog. Also you would of just doubled the dangerous animal situation, so please keep going through the proper channels.
Reply:I own a pitbull (rescued). Oh yes, I am a college graduate, hold a professional position and go to church regularly. I guess that makes me "bad." Pity. I wouldn't trade my Sweet Baby Blue for anything. He's a fabulous dog.
But nonetheless, I will agree. There are people out there who think owning pitts - or Rotweilers or other "badboy" breeds make them look tough. They're also the kind of people who buy expensive tennis shoes thinking they'll be as good on a basketball court as Michael Jordan.
It sounds like there's more than just the dogs here - like you live in a ghetto and people with "ghetto attitudes."
I would get the city/police involved - not just by arresting people - but showing a good presence. Talk with your school or councilmen about organizing a neighborhood watch - and maybe holding a block party on general public safety - with special demonstrations on how to handle emergency situations - prowlers, predators, mean dogs. That way you can be a hero - instead of a nosy old neighbor. Get the community involved so that people won't think they even need a "guard dog" with all the liability that goes with it.

The bullet has to come down, providing it doesn't hit something up there in the air....and yes, that has happened, and it may very well strike and kill someone on the ground. So none of you will be doing that, right?
I understand your frustration, having lived across the street from an idiot owner of an aggressive pit bull. I can, and do, legally own a gun. No, I have not shot either him or the dog, but after being attacked serveral times by the dog, and making long and numerous written reports to animal control, and having the police to his house on each occassion, he was given a number of fines, and FINALLY ARRESTED. That made an impression. The thing that REALLY made an impression was when animal control gave him the information that I had permission to shoot the dog in self defense, and the sheriff's department backed them up.
I suspect you may live in an area where you aren' t going to be able to do this. Make a report each and every time. Get a digital camera and set time/date on it, and get photos of each occurance. Also, see if you can find a sporting goods store that sells BEAR REPELLENT. But be careful of which way the wind is blowing if you use it.
Don't send an animal out against it. Pit bulls and their owners who let them loose have no sense or conscience. Why injure an innocent animals and get down on their level. Yeah, I know .....all those pitbull owners will jump up and say how responsible they are...how gentle the dogs are....and it's
"always the other guy". Sorry, I have seen too many people injured and too many animals killed by these supposedly gentle animals owned by "responsible" people.
Anyone who owns dogs and leaves them off-leash are irresponsible. Anyone who owns pitbulls and brags about leaving them off-leash are are worse than irresponsible. They are complete idiots looking for trouble, but will be the first to yell foul when something happens.

Anyway, is it possible to get someone to take the dogs from them? I mean will they bite strangers? That is what my son does when he sees someone beating a dog, which is why I have had so many pets. I can't really think of any legal way to do it. Kumodo Dragon??? LOL!!

honestly, i grew up with pit bulls and they were great dogs. here's what i'm sayin -my dogs were so well trained that screamin kids and such didn't change the fact that they were obedient. my pit bull actually broke pursuit of a cat the second my dad called her. the point is a good owner= a good dog. regardless of breed.
incidentally, the fact is that when a huge temperment study was done on all the breeds, the pit bull actually scored higher than most dogs
that being said, your neighbors are OBVIOUSLY not good owners because you have a problem that shouldn't exist. they are irresponsible. THEY are exactly the reason the pit bull has a bad name. it's because of the loosers that are attracted to the breed for all the wrong reasons. and that pisses me off.
SO i Do see your delema.
as for a shepard, a pit would kick it's ***. as for releasing another animal on the pit, that would be cruel, immoral, ILLEGAL, and probably result in you having a huge lawsuit that you would lose and a dead animal .
unless you know what to send out, which i can't, in good conscience tell you. however, if your family is in danger- people come first. so i will tell you that there is a dog bread for lion hunting. three of these dogs together, are said to be the only breed able to pin a lion. understand, i'm not answering your question. i'm just telling you that if you research lion hunting dogs, you'll find a dog that you can hunt lions with. the problem becomes this: if you release one animal as a solution to another, what then is the solution to the animal you release. "i don't know why she swallowed a fly".
please just call animal control. when you're protecting your family, nothing is ever lame. to protect my family (from a dog and from having a father in jail and owing a lot of money from a lawsuit) i would call animal control every day and it could never get lame enough.

My Grandmother had a pit bull, Butch. He was the sweetest, calmest dog. I loved him. He was always nice to everyone. He barked at people until he was introduced to them. Beautiful to look at. Wow he was a good dog.
Until, my daughter was 14 months old and she simply walked from one side of the room to the other and he jumped out from behind a chair and clamped down on her little arm. He wouldn't let go. My brother started kicking him and he finally let her go. I was freaking out. He left pretty little scars in my baby girls arm. My Grandmother didn't get rid of him so I didn't go over when he was in the house. A few months went by and a little neighbor boy was walking by the chain link fence just like every other day coming home from school and Butch was outside that day and able to get out of the yard. He attacked the boy. He had over a hundred stitches. Well needless to say Butch went to doggy heaven.
My point of telling this is to let you know its not always the owner. I believe those dogs, no matter how good of an owner they have are just vicious dogs.
I know a lot of communities don't allow pit bulls in them. They make it illegal, my home owners association wont allow you to buy a house if you have one. So check into getting your community to pass a bill or law to outlaw them. If you kill them yourself or have an animal do it then you can get into trouble. So fight it through the courts! GOOD LUCK :)

they say "oh they can be trained" and "only bad owners have bad dogs " and bla bla bla but the honest truth is that when a person or another animal screams and runs away the dogs are really not trained for that situation no matter what these idiots say.
besides i have yet to see 1 pitbull with a "good" owner.
so... what i need is something that i can unleash on the dog next time i see one of them running up and down my street.
maybe even just let it jump in the yard of the dog that got out 3 days ago.
i could always get rid of the dogs other ways, but calling the animal control is getting kinda lame, and i dont want to get myself in trouble like i would if the dog ever hurt someone in my family...
lions tigers and bears... lol maybe a monkey i dunno what about german sheperds

Are domestic cats descended from big cats such as ocelots?
Were there small breeds of wild cat before humans started to keep them as pets. I know that there are wild cats in many mountainous regions around the world, which are a lot smaller than most of the big cats (Lions, Tigers etc.) but even they are considerably bigger than domestic breeds.
The ancient Egyptians kept cats which according to their art were the same size as the cats we know today, so when did people start keeping them and what sort of cat was first domesticated?
Are domestic cats descended from big cats such as ocelots?

The 4th website down mentions the African Wild Cat and the Asiatic Desert Cat as being the original ancestors of the modern cat. These are both small cats.
Reply:Sarah is right. Our domestic cat was descended from a small desert cat comparable in size to the ones we have today in our homes. All cats are in the family "felidae" and there are many species from very large ones to small ones. All cats are "cousins" in this sense. They are mostly all the top carnivores in their particular niche in the world and some of the larger ones also may prey on the smaller ones who live in the same area of the world.
In an evolutionary sense there have always been carnivorous species in any area, even when the animals are very tiny and not what we would think of as predators.
Reply:yes many were bred from larger cats such as ocelots, snow leopards, lynxes
Reply:Well in egypt they were used to protect the harvest stores from rodents and I'm just guessing here that, that is how they earned their keep for many years untill we started taking them into our homes and feeing them. Cats are clever and if it were me I would choose the comfy rug by the fire and food on tap aswell. As for decended, just from the small wild cats I'm assuming.
Reply:They are descended from African and Asian wild cats.
This has been prove through DNA tests.
They are not as is commonly believed descended from European wildcats-that is a close relative but not their direct ancestor.Like the European wildcat the African and Asian wildcat species look very like slightly bigger domestic cats.
They can interbreed with them easily though-my cat and her brother who is owned by my friend are the offspring of a female domestic cat and a Scottish wildcat tom-farm-cat in heat meets wildcat who hunts rabbits on farmland was how it happened in short.

Reply:Lets face it, Sri Lanka are at the moment going backwards. SInce the world cup final they havent shown us that they are capable of beating the best team in the world.
Bangladesh just got another hiding from SA proving that they still gave a lot to learn, but I am confident that one day they will be challengers for the world cup. They just need time and experience, neither of which comes over night.
India just came of a great win against the aussies at home and after they won the 2020world cup last year things are looking good. However the ratings still have the Aussies at the top in both formats of the game.
South Africa are equal in the ODI rankings to Australia and in the Test Arena India South Africa and Sri Lanka are more or less equal in points.
The toprated Test Batsman currently is K Sangakarra and toprated ODI Batsman is Tendulkar. Toprated Test bowler is currently Murali. So they have some of the best players in the world.
Australia is like an old giant now. Still very fierce but the age shows. The aussies's days are numbered and a new leader must step up.
The upcoming Tour of SA and India will produce the new world champion after the aussies collapse and with Ricky Ponting getting older by the day it cannot be far off.
I think South Africa will beat India and take 1st place in the ODI's. Remember they were number one about a year ago. The Test might take a bit later since Australia just came of a recordstreak.
Reply:I do not agree just by one one day series that india are the worlds best team We should judge the team on the skills and consistency of performance.subcontinent team like India and sri lanka are good when they play on their home ground but when it comes to playing in south Africa, Australia and Newzeland ourperformance is not great.Indian Teamshould win consistently in both form to establsh as world best while sri lanka though did well in ODI they failed Miseraby in test in australia.other teamsout of subcontinents are having better track record.Pakistan is on downswing and it will take them long to establsh back in test arena

SL crushed India by 10 wickets or 9.
SL got Aussies for 186 but bldy D/L came on effect.
SL did bowl out the Aussie for last match between the two teams so SL is climbing up.

In the story of Noah and his ark which is supposed to have happened two thousand years before Jesus?
The 'believers' try to give credance to the story by claiming that Noah didn't take on two of every specie but two of every genus. For example two cats, two dogs, two frogs for instance and from these the species such as lions, tigers, pumas etc. all evolved. But by the time Jesus was born all thes species had developed into the form they are today. My question is if they developed and evolved in that short a period(two thousand years) why haven't they developed further and why no new species
In the story of Noah and his ark which is supposed to have happened two thousand years before Jesus?
I have read many articles on this very aspect. With the dimensions of the Ark the Bibles description would have been entirely possible.
As far as the THEORY of evolution is concerned, adaptation is a more likely idea and this can take place rather rapidly.
Reply:Evolved is not the correct word. Unfolded would be closer. The genetic code to produce all the different varieties were contained within each kind on board the ark. Dogs never give birth to cats, but only to their kinds, dogs to dogs and cats to cats.
The many varieties inside the kinds is astonishing but we will not see to different kinds making a new species such as a dog/cat mix. With humans the genetic code for different races was in Noah and family. We have worn that down till today it is rare though not unknown for parents of one race to have twins of 2 races.
Reply:great question.....it also begs the question.....why didn't the civilizations 4000 years ago notice this. the Xia Dynasty (2100–1600 BCE) sure did spring up quick from Noah's grandchildren
Congrats for the stumper. That us a good one
Reply:The devil stopped them from developing, or maybe the devil made them develop until Jesus came and stopped them.
Developing = Deviloping. LoL

evolution among species is commonly known.
It is also commonly known that where there is abundant food and a decline in predator activity, species flourish and spread rapidly.
Reply:I always thought Christians didn`t beleive in evolution,,,
Reply:I believe that Noah took aboard the ark more modern species than we thought he did that already evolved into what we still see today.

Why weren't there any "big dogs," like "big cats" are?
Cats have lions, tigers, jaguars, etc and other big cat that are extinct. Why weren't there any big dog types, the dogs are bigger on average than a typical cat. Was it because the dogs hunted in packs so they did not have to get as big as the solitary cat hunters? But that does not explain lions.
Why weren't there any "big dogs," like "big cats" are?
There are "big dogs" the Wolves. A Gray Wolf's (the largest wolf species) average length of an adult female gray wolf is 4.5 to 6 feet; adult males average 5 to 6.5 feet. The average height (at the shoulder) of a gray wolf is 26 to 32 inches.
Though smaller in length compared to a Siberian Tiger (the largest of the "big cats") who can grow anywhere from 10 feet to 12 feet long. A gray wolf though is about as long as a female lion, though may not weigh as much.
So in all reality the Grey Wolf is what would be referred to as the "big dogs" along with all the other species of wolves. Though they hunt in packs it doesn't mean that they indeed aren't the 'big dogs" of the world.
Reply:The real question should be, why aren't there any "small dog" species? (Actually there are - foxes.) The domestic dog is derived directly from the wolf, and some dog species are considerably larger than wolves - for example, St. Bernards and Great Danes.
Maybe the reason why there aren't any "big dogs" is just the way the evolution cookie crumbled.

How do You fight the forces of Evil ( Happy Halloween)?
Animal trainers say that the secret of handling lions, tigers, and leopards is to keep them constantly afraid of you. The instant they get over their fear, they will attack. They are treacherous beasts and often gather courage for an attack when the trainer's eyes are turned away from them. One never knows when they will spring at their keeper if they have a chance to do it from behind. Our fight with the forces of evil is like that. Satan is always seeking to attack us from the rear or in ambush. He goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, but he is a great coward when faced with courage. "Resist the devil and he will flee from you" is as true today as it was when the Apostle James first made the declaration (Jam_4:7).
James 4:7 KJV
(7) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

There is only right and wrong. You either do the right thing or you do the wrong thing. There is no great battle within you or anyone Else's soul. We make it this way and in turn only make things harder for ourselves.
The next time BEFORE you look to the sky or into your heart, whatever, and ask "OH GOD what should i do!" ask yourself this question first. Of all the choices that now face me which is Right and which is Wrong. When you decide which is right you will have the answer God would have you have. makes sense doesn't it. There is only Right and Wrong its so simply it is pathetic.

If a Lion/Tiger & not a leopard chases a racing-horse will it be able to catch the horse?
depends on which one is running faster. pantherfan
If a Lion/Tiger %26amp; not a leopard chases a racing-horse will it be able to catch the horse?
nothing is impossible,
so it fully depends on the racing capacity of the lion or a tiger.
Reply:Yes, it may be possible sometimesi.e.,if the tiger/lion is hunger %26amp; younger andit should be a tricky catcher. But sometimes it may not if lion/tiger runs behind the horse.
Reply:Yes, as long as the lion/tiger doesn't crash into a tree or a rock.
Reply:No, the feline will have to stop before the equine. Horses have a metabolism that enables them to go longer distances. But that depends on the type of horse too.
Reply:I don't think so, the horse will run for a long time using his prey animal instinct. Lions run short distances but they attack in groups hence trapping their preys and tigers leap on preys, they live in forests.

I'm homeschooled and doing a report in science about Big Cats???
My report is going to cover lions, tigers, and mountain lions but I'm not having much luck with finding internet sights that have the right kind of information (habitat, behavior, hunting, etc) and good images that I can put in the report. Does anybody know some websights that might help me out or have good images? Thanks! (by the way, this is a 9th. grade assignment, just so you know.)

Kitten making sounds like a lion/tiger?
When i give him his treats he starts to purr like an lion when they see a peace of meat, and his nose gets all wet..does that mean that hes drooling, but in a different way than humans?
hes so cute when he does that, he tries to get his head in the little bag and goes all crazy! =)
Kitten making sounds like a lion/tiger?

A Lion/Tiger offspring?
Just been browsing YouTube and i've witnessed a zoological oddity......... a freakin' Liger (?)
Why is it so HUGE compared to its Tigress mother?
A Lion/Tiger offspring?
Growth dysplasia due to genomic imprinting. The explanation is as follows...
Lions live in prides led by several adult males. The lionesses mate with each of those males. Each male wants his offspring to be the ones to survive, but the female's genes want multiple offspring to survive. The father's genes promote size of the offspring to ensure that his offspring out-compete any other offspring in the womb at the same time. Genes from the female inhibit growth to ensure that as many offspring as possible survive and that they all have an equal chance. By contrast, tigers are largely solitary and a female on heat normally only mates with one male. There is no competition for space in the womb so the male tiger's genes do not need to promote larger offspring. There is therefore no need for the female to compensate, so the offspring's growth goes uninhibited. When a male lion mates with a tigress, his genes promote large offspring because lions are adapted to a competitive breeding strategy. The tigress does not inhibit the growth because she is adapted to a non-competitive strategy. Therefore the offspring (liger) grows larger and stronger than either parent because the effects do not cancel each other out. Ligers take several years to reach full adult size.
Reply:cuz its mixed.. probably
Reply:ligers are infertile. i read up on it, it has something to do with a grwth hormone that a male tiger produces. when the male tiger is replaced with the male lion, the hormone is not present so they gorw sort of out of control. cute though arent they?
Reply:There's some gene that tells the cat when to stop growing, but it comes from the male tiger and the female lion, neither of which was used in creating the liger.
Reply:Yep and you can get a tigon but have seen it on tv and it's truly a big pussy
Reply:right
Reply:If the lion is the daddy it is a Liger but if the tiger is the daddy it is a Tigon.
Reply:Because crosses between species are not meant to happen, and so the genes get a bit mixed up, so it doesn't stop growing when it should.
Reply:Liger isn't really an oddity, well, not anymore.
Reply:Lions and tigers will stop growing at a certain point after maturity, just like any other animal. Hybrids of the two, ligers and tigons, often display heterosis, which is common in hybrids and means that positive characteristics of both parent breeds are enhanced, leading to increased size and strength.
Reply:a male tiger does not have limited growth but a female tiger does and a male tiger has limited growth but the female tiger does not so if the male lion and the female tiger have an off spring (Liger) its genes will not carry limited growth, therefore it will grow massive.
