Can the Lions finish over .500?

The Detroit Lions have the talent but not the morale to win. Can Rod Marinelli and Mike Martz turn this team around as Jim Leyland did with the Tigers?

Can the Lions finish over .500?
Possible, but unlikely. Let's say Mike Martz re-creates the greatest show on turf. You still have to take on the Seahawks week 1 and then go to Chicago Week 2. It's quite likely that you're 0-2 going into week 3. Then you have to get pretty good and pretty lucky. 5 weeks of Green Bay, St. Louis (grudge match for Martz), Minnesota, Buffalo %26amp; the Jets. Let's say you go into the bye week 5-2. You're thinking 8-8 should be a breeze. The talking heads are saying you could get a wild-card or even win the division. Maybe the Bears are only 4-2 (they had their bye week while you beat the Jets.)

But what if reality sets in after the bye. First the Falcons come in and stomp your defense - both Dunn %26amp; Vick run for over 100 yards. Then San Fran comes in and Alex Smith looks like the 2nd (or perhaps 3rd after Steve Young) coming of Joe Montana. But you're still 5-4, right? You can pull this out. A wild-card is still possible.

Then you get stomped in Arizona - Edge rushes for 200 and Warner throws for 300. You don't really expect to beat Miami or New England, do you? Now you're 5-7, and that 8-8 record is looking tougher and tougher. Next up Minnesota - now you are 6-7. A squeaker in Green Bay evens things up at 7-7.

2 games left - But Chicago comes in and locks up the division. One last chance to even things up down in Dallas. I think your hopes for 8-8 will come down to whether TO can keep his mouth shut and Drew Bledsoe can keep his feet.
Reply:I will probably get packers season tickets before they even come close to .500. If there are any packers fans here u know what im talking about.
Reply:The lions probably won't even win 3 games...sorry lion fans
Reply:No. I'm sorry but it's going to have to depend on a change in the front office! The should sell the team and get people in there that are committed to winning! GO LIONS!
Reply:yeah, and peyton manning will finally make it to the super bowl!!

keep dreaming.
Reply:doubtful they have no qb they'll get close to .500 i predict 7-9 or 6-10 for the lions
Reply:Yes! I believe Rod Marinelli will lead them back to respectability.
Reply:Seeing that they play in the worst division " The NFC Norris", they'll probably have the second best record out of the other 3 teams with the Bears being first. And they still wont reach the .500 mark... they'll more than likely go about 6-10 at the best.
