Friends living in South Carolina and elsewhere what do you think the Beast of Bolivia is? Bear, Lion, Tiger?

In September and now recently pitt bulls and other animals have been killed by a large animal. Some suggested it may be a lion or tiger from a nearby closed won zoo. Animal Control Officers say those animals were relocated when the zoo closed.

If you live nearby do walk outside alone and without a weapon? Do you fear for your own pets safety?

Could it just be the laws of nature playing out?

I just heard this on CNN and they think it may be a panther or a cougar!!! Keep us informed!!! Maybe it's the "bearcudawolf"!!!! That was our character in our scary stories when I was a kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:I believe it's bears because there have been more %26amp; more bear sightings recently, here in Myrtle Beach. All the new housing subdivisions going in, are driving the bears out of their homes. I have woods all around my home but as yet, no signs of bears, but that could change tomorrow. I have no pets, so that's not a worry to me personally. Bears don't like the smell of red pepper, so many residents who have spotted bears in their neighborhoods, are sprinkling red pepper on the perimiter of their property.
Reply:Mythical great cat stories abound throughout the world. It has been postulated the the original Hound of the Baskervilles was actually a great black cat. Giant cat stories abound in Central and South America as well as in some European countries and of course in Africa as well. Scientists have no clue and will not acknowledge this phenomena because there is no 'proof', but the stories arise every so often. They are probably true though, else where would the tales come from?
Reply:That would scare the pants off me. I would not walk outside without a gun.And yes I know how to use it.
Reply:I have not seen a thing about your 'beast'. Not in the news or from friends in the East.
Reply:Wow, I live in Charleston and haven't heard that yet! We did have a bear in the old Naval Weapons Station that is now closed and rimmed with razor wire, we had real alligator attacks, a guy lost his arm recently while swimming in a pond but i haven't heard about the other yet, what is it?

WE don't have a zoo here, I would have to drive to Columbia to go to one

Could be a cougar or panther like Ndnquah said, could be e bears too! We seem to be infringing on their territory
Reply:Lions and Tigers and Bears...Oh my!!!
Reply:We've had stories like that in the UK too....The Beast of Bodmin Moor....it's reported to be a panther. The laws in the UK changed and it became illegal to keep wild animals and instead of giving them to zoos or if they couldn't find anywhere to take them folk just let them go on moorland. We've seen footage on tv and even though some people have said it's just a big domestic cat we believe it to be a panther coz that must be one helluva big house cat otherwise. There have been reports of something similar near to where we live too. There's an area of marshland which has had sightings from local fisherman who fish along the local canal and the stories come out mostly in the summer months.....can't be tourism (like with the Loch Ness Monster) coz there's nothing worth coming to our town for lol.
